First eco-primary school in Blackpool to be rebuilt

AN ECO-PRIMARY school will be the first to get a new build in Blackpool under a new regeneration project.

Hawes Side Academy, Pedders Lane, is set to be rebuilt by the government’s Priority Schools Building Programme this summer in hope for the new school to be up and running by 2016.

The Academy’s condition survey found that a number of cracks in the walls were deteriorating, which led to Hawes Side becoming a priority Academy.

Hawes Side has excelled in being eco-friendly and have made a large contribution towards Sport England.

Sport England is a scheme which encourages schools to have enough green space for children to be physically active.

With the Academy becoming two stories instead of one, it will cover a smaller area therefore creating more green land…
