My name is Abigail Gillibrand and I am 21 years old. I have graduated from the University of Salford with a BA First-Class Honours Degree in Journalism: Multimedia. I am currently taking the NCTJ Diploma and have been accepted onto the MailOnline’s Trainee Graduate Scheme.
The course has given me the knowledge of how to work in print, online and broadcast journalism as I have taken certain modules, which have covered all three bases.
Throughout the three years at University I have undertaken the NCTJ Diploma and have managed to achieve my Essential Media Law, Essential Public Affairs, Reporting, Video Journalism for Online, and Court Reporting qualifications all at Gold Standard.
I have a key interest in fashion and music journalism and have been focusing on these two pathways since an early age. Following the music journalism route I have been able to interview the likes of Woody Woodmansey (Drummer from Bowie’s band The Spiders From Mars), Lights, Jamie Campbell Bower, Clint Boon, Tim Burgess, John Robb and many other acclaimed musicians.
When in High school I created a fashion and beauty blog named Long Tall Abi which you can view here.
I have also entered the music journalism world by starting my own fanzine, called Woodnote, at the age of 14. This has led onto me becoming a reporter for John Robb’s music blog Louder Than War. I was also asked to be The Charlatans’ writer in residence at the Kendal Calling festival in 2012, and I am also featuring in the new David Bowie Glamour magazine.
